The BridgeCom BDR-4550 is a professional-grade UHF repeater designed for amateur radio operators, search-and-rescue teams, and industrial operations requiring high-reliability voice and digital communications. Operating across the 400-470 MHz UHF frequency spectrum with up to 50W of RF power output, the BDR-4550 provides broad coverage across amateur UHF allocations, distinguishing it from dedicated GMRS repeaters that operate on fixed 462/467 MHz channels. The unit supports both traditional analog FM and digital DMR protocols across 500 programmable channels and 32 zones, delivering clean audio performance and flexible multi-mode operation for expanding repeater networks.

Engineered into a slim 1U 19-inch rackmount chassis with an internal cooling fan, the BDR-4550 maximizes rack space efficiency while maintaining continuous-duty thermal stability. It features a dual-input power arrangement supporting 100/240V AC primary power alongside a 13.8V DC input that automatically transitions to battery backup during main line failures. On-site diagnostics and local monitoring are facilitated by an integrated front-panel keypad, digital display, built-in 2W speaker, and standard hand microphone. Built under FCC Part 90 and Part 15 certifications, the repeater includes a 2-year manufacturer warranty and technical support access.

IP Connectivity and Multi-Site Linking

The BDR-4550 features an integrated IP network interface that allows operators to link repeaters over local or wide-area IP networks. This capability supports digital DMR network expansion, remote site monitoring, and multi-site interconnectivity without requiring external network adapters.

Dual AC and DC Battery Failover System

Designed for uninterruptible station operations, the BDR-4550 operates on primary 100/240V AC power while maintaining an active connection to a 13.8V DC power source. In the event of an AC grid outage, the repeater automatically transitions to DC battery backup to ensure continuous system uptime for critical communications.

Front-Panel Controls and Local Audio Monitoring

The repeater integrates an internal 2W 8-ohm speaker and front-panel keypad control interface directly into its 1U chassis. Operators can monitor local transmissions, adjust channel and volume settings, configure power levels, and perform on-site testing using the included hand microphone without external test sets.
